Wow! Really? Has it been that long?!?

Oooops! Ok, so it wasn't supposed to be this long in between posts - I guess that's what happens when the days all run together before you know it! In case anyone is wondering, 13 is the magic number. Not the lucky one - the magic one. Apparently 13 is the number of years to be married when everything starts to get old and give up! In the last 6 months we've spent time without an airconditioner, a heater, and a washer. There are currently only 4 appliances in the house that are not new. And soon to be 2. A new washer and dryer are on my list, but first the tax return must come in. After that, it's time to save for a refridgerator and a hot water heater because at this point it's only a matter of time..... Blogging is like keeping a journal - I don't do it everyday and then when I do there's so much to say that I just get frustrated and cut it short. I suppose that's why I should just do it every day and be done with it. By the way - still looking for that clever way to use "Bloggins", I just haven't decided what it will be yet! ;-)

Just keep trying!!

Uh-huh, so apparently these everyday things don't work so well for me, but a couple of times a week is better than nothing right?!? So today's thoughts come from a project I am working on for Church. We are going to play family feud on Tuesday night and it's my job to put together the game. So, we came up with questions from the internet (gospel and mommy related) and some of them already had answers but some of them did not. So I asked my wonderful cousin to help me out and survey her friends. I sent her an email with the questions and an explanation of what was up so that all she had to do was forward it to her friends. After just a few hours, I had 8 sets of answers and a touched spirit. How wonderful is it that these ladies who have never met me are so willing to stop and take a couple of minutes to help me out?!? It makes you feel good to know that the Church is always there no matter where you go and that the people are willing to help each other out. Yes, maybe it's a little silly because it is such a small thing, but I suppose it's just the principle. Either way, it's been fun and very interesting to see what kinds of answers come back!!

Been a busy one!

So far this year we have successfully redecorated the living room, and I have to say I love it! It feels really good to have a room of the house that I absolutely love, and so now, the rest of the house must follow. It has not been good for my attempt at daily blogging, but I'll have to keep working on that. It's Sunday and so there's not a lot going on - we are all just chilling out after church, though we need to be straightening up around here and getting ready to go back to work and school tomorrow. None of us are happy about it, but that's just life I suppose. And in the end - we would all be sick of each other sooner or later if we all just sat around here all the time anyway. Besides, getting out gives us something to talk about in the evenings!!
I saw something interesting at Church today - I was watching as Dakota and Bishop Singleton (no longer the Bishop, but always will be in this house!) were passing sacrament and were gracefully and reverently communicating with each other about who was going to pass to which row in the middle and who would move on to the next. It was fascinating to me, and took me back to thoughts of when we moved here and Spencer was our home teacher. He was single, we were not active in Church and Dakota and Noah were little. Spencer would come to do his home teaching and insist that Steve and I go on a date every now and then. He would come over and watch the boys and hang out and have fun. We would come home and they had all had a blast sword fighting (plastic swords) and watching movies. My how things change....now Dakota is 13 and they are passing sacrament together and Spencer has a beautiful wife and baby boy of his own. Now it's our turn to sword fight and watch movies at their house.....

Nothing much to tell.....

Today was quite interesting - the lady I worked with on the Christmas party for work showed me a note she was sent via inter-office mail about how the Employee's Club is prejiduce and that we are lame and nothing we do is fair. OK, whatever! Everything we do in terms of games and door prizes is completely random. Ugh. Anyway, it was a productive day at work, and that's always a good feeling. Not much is going on otherwise - normally I'm sure I would have something witty to say, but I'm tired today and have a headache, so my mind is not as rambunctious as usual. We all are hoping that tomorrow they will let us off work at noon. If they do - no, wait, WHEN they do, I'll be coming home to paint the living room. I'm really excited to redo the living room, and I hope that it turns out in real life the way it looks in my head. Of course as I sit here and look around though, all I see is trim that needs to be taped up, pictures that will have to come off the wall and find a new home for the weekend, and all the stuff that will have to be pushed into the middle of the room and covered. This is why I should have had the patience to paint before we moved in. Oh well! I guess we'll see what happens!!

So far, not so good....

Hmmm...well, as I suspected could be the problem in the beginning, I haven't been regular at this but that's ok - it will get better - right?!? It's been a busy week - you know, not wanting to be at work, being sad about not getting to go to Wichita for my Great Aunt's funeral. Just a general stinky week. One of the more interesting things that has happened this week was today when I went to the doctor to get this hideous wart removed from my finger. The doctor froze it off and it was quite a fascinating process. It didn't hurt while he was freezing the thing - it was after I got in the car and my finger defrosted and the feeling came back. It's been sore ever since. I have managed this week to get the tree down and get most of the stuff off of the desk so that we can get ready to paint the living room this weekend. I also bought my first set of dishes that at least resemble China. They were made in China and prefer not to be put in the dishwasher, so I think it counts. They were on clearance at the Evil Empire (Wal-Mart) so I got 8 place settings for $12. Ooohhh.....my price range!! Anyway, it's after 10, so well past my bed time so I will go to bed for now and try this again tomorrow. =-)

In the beginning.....there was a great idea!

Hmm...so I'm totally swiping Leesa's idea (thanks cuz, hope you don't mind) but I too love to write, and I need to do better at keeping a journal but handwriting is frustrating, so why not just blog?!? We'll see how this goes, but if I do it right, it could really be fun! I can have this as my blog - all my own!! It can be girly and be all about what's on my mind and the boys can't complain at all!! Oh yes, I could get into this! It will probably take a while to get it going in the direction I want it to, but I think I can do it. Who knows, I may get carried away and start a third blog to keep up with all of the changes to the house since we have moved here. After all, I plan to spend next weekend painting the living room!! FINALLY!! But I'll go into that at another time and place. It's quiet here in the Christmas aftermath, the boys are playing, and Steve is playing with the netbook computer that I gave him for Christmas. I won it at my company Christmas party - it was the grand prize and I pulled my own name out of the box. Some said it was rigged, but I swear - I pulled my name out fair and square, and after all the working I had done to put the party together, I wasn't about to put it back and draw someone else's name. Ok, well, I did consider it for a few minutes but eventually I decided to just keep the dang thang. Why not?!?
